The Older Members (OM's)

The Bristol Boys & Girls Club is fortunate to have a number of dedicated, hard working volunteers to aid in many different aspects of the Club’s operations. No group of people gives more and personifies the Club’s mission more than the Older Members Association of the Bristol Boys & Girls Club.

Affectionately referred to as "The OM’s”, this group was formed in 1923 with the purpose of helping youth develop and grow as well as furthering the aims and purpose of the Club. Today, the OM’s boast over 50 members, many of whom grew up at the Club and now give back to the Club in their adult life.

Over the past 83 years, the OM’s have contributed over one million dollars and tens of thousands of hours of labor to the Club and its members.

Many people in town are also familiar with the annual OM Show; a local variety show which allows hundreds of children and adults the opportunity to perform on stage. Now in its 65th year, the OM show is the largest fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club and is run solely by members of the OM organization.

The OM’s also sponsor the Club’s Annual Youth of the Year Award and Recognition Dinner. The Youth of the Year award is given annually to the high school Club member who demonstrates the highest sense of moral character and service to the Club and community, while acting as a positive role model for younger members. This is the highest honor bestowed upon a Club Member and carries with it over $1,000 in scholarship money. The Recognition Dinner honors hundreds of Club members for various accomplishments at the Boys & Girls Club including Student of the Year, MVP’s of Travel Sports Teams and Champions of in-house sports leagues.

For information about how to get involved or become an OM, contact the Club at 583-4734 and ask to leave a message for Steve Masotti, OM President.
