Teen West Street Programs

The Mattioli Family Teen Center was designed specifically for members age 13-18 to provide an important gathering place for future generations of productive young adults. We welcome youth living in and around Bristol to come hang with us, participate in national Boys & Girls Club programs and volunteer within the Club!

Keystone Club

This is a year-round program that provides teen club members with valuable leadership and service experiences. Each club member will conduct activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration, and community service. Club members elect officers and engage in a broad spectrum of activities. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America hosts an annual National Keystone Conference for the Boys & Girls Club teens that brings together members from all across the globe. Throughout the conference, Keystone members engage and socialize with peers, explore relevant issues, and develop skills to support and enhance the efforts of the Boys & Girls Clubs and our community.

Torch Club

Torch Clubs is a small-group leadership and service program for select

Middle School members. Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff canhelp meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to our Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation. Each year, Torch Club members from Boys & Girls Clubs across the country take part in a service-learning experience through the National Torch Club Project. Free with Membership. This is a Year Round Program.

S.T.A.R.S.

Mondays

5-6:30PM

S.T.A.R.S. (Students Taking Adolescent Realities Seriously) is an opportunity for youth to take a stand against issues in their community that may or may not affect them. Issues such as race, bullying, drugs, mental health, inclusion and poverty. Youth will have the chance to address these issues and come up with ways that we can make a change. Through some role play, art projects, and even some news casting we will come together to bring awareness to these issues affecting our youth today.

Gardening

Wednesday & Friday

4:00-5:15PM

This program will introduce gardening basics to its participants. We will start from soil to seeding and watch our Garden grow. We will plant some vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, snap peas, herbs, etc. This program will teach the importance of eating fresh and the responsibility of maintaining a garden. 

The Nate Mariani Outdoors Club

The Nathan Mariani Outdoors Club program strives to meet the needs of teens and youth club members living in the Bristol Community through involvement in outdoor adventures and nature exploration activities. By experiencing nature and developing skills in outdoor recreation, club members will gain a life-long appreciation and understanding for the importance of nature. This program is in memory of outdoors enthusiast, Nathan Mariani, who passed away in 2019. The Outdoors Club strives to keep his love and passion for the outdoors alive.

ALLSTARS

This is a 10-week program that is primarily funded by Buffalo Wild Wings and aims to increase opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and recognition through high-quality structured sports programming. Playing sports is about igniting a passion, belonging to a team, sportsmanship, teamwork, and building self-esteem.

Cooking with Curiosity

This is a year-round program that prioritizes equipping club members with the tools to grow their confidence, abilities, and investment in the kitchen while helping them to investigate their personal connections to foods and cooking. The curriculum for the cooking program supports cooking skill development through reflection, experimentation, and choice-based recipes.

Designers Workshop

This is a 10-Week Program that prioritizes creating physical and digital media in both 2D and 3D platforms. In this program, club members will learn the principle of design and how to utilize the Cricut, 3D printers, Glow Forge, and various graphic design software. Each club member will have the opportunity to create their own designs and apply them to physical objects like backpacks, pins, posters, and many more as well as create 3D versions of physical objects.

Money Matters: Make it Count

This is a 10-Week Program that prioritizes teaching teen club members how to set goals, budget, save, and invest. In addition to staff-led financial literacy sessions, young people practice their financial decision-making skills through fun, engaging digital tools and games. Teen club members who complete Money Matters show improved financial management skills, including saving money and sticking to a budget.

Passport 2 Manhood II (Teens)

This is a 10-week program that prioritizes engaging young teen boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership, and positive behavior. Each club member receives a “passport” to underscore the notion that he/they are on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Each of the program’s sessions use interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. It also includes a service project where the young teen boys will learn the importance of giving back to the community.

PRIDE Club

This is a 10-week program that prioritizes teaching club members about the LGBTQ+ identities, gender and sexuality, examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege that occur in the world and everyday community. At the end of the program, each club member will receive a Safe Zone Badge that verifies that each member is Safe Zone Trained and Certified.

SoundLab

This is a 10-week program that prioritizes teaching club members how to understand and utilize Audio Engineering through the Logic Pro Apple Software system. In this program, club members will utilize various software’s to record, edit, mix, and output finished projects. They will gain the ability to confidently work in a digital environment and operate the audio software.

Teen Bonding

This is a year-round program that prioritizes creating a positive environment for the teen club members while helping them stay motivated through an increase in morale, productivity, and efficiency. This program is an ongoing process that occurs weekly to allow the teens to become closer together while building trust and communication amongst one another. This bonding program includes various fun activities with shared experiences in a supportive and loyal setting.

Career Launch

This is a 10-Week Program that prioritizes engaging club members to access their skills and interests, explore careers, make sound educational decisions and prepare to join our nation’s work force. Club staff and volunteers help build their job search skills and job readiness by using the Career Launch Facilitator Guide and working with teens individually or in small groups. This program provides club members with online career exploration, college and job search information and interactive activities. Mentoring, job shadowing, and training opportunities round out the program.

Diplomas 2 Degrees (D2D)

This is a 10-week program that prioritizes college readiness for club members and preparing them as they work towards high school graduation and post-secondary education/career success. This program assists teens with developing both short-term and long-term goals, while familiarizing each member with post-secondary education through experiences like college tours. It also assists each club member in securing financial aid and fosters supportive relationships with adults who can provide support throughout the college experience.

Designing Dreams (Fine Arts)

This is a 10-week program that prioritizes teaching club members a broad base of practical and conceptual skills in visual arts, multimedia, and design. This program allows club members to learn the basics of Film, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpting, and many more Fine Art concepts and skills.

Lyricism 101

This is a 10-week program that prioritizes teaching club members the power of the literary arts and places them in a position as experts in the ancient oral poetic traditions that continue to thrive around the world. This program gives club members an opportunity to tell their stories, build communities, and express their artistic visions through the music of hip-hop culture and the culture of the cipher.

Power Hour (Teens)

This is a year-round program that prioritizes helping club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, and high yield learning activities. This program encourages club members to become self-directed learners while also making it fun! Dedicated staff and volunteers supervise each session and help club members complete their assignments for the day and when they are finished with their work, they may choose to participate in a variety of other engaging and educational activities to develop their skills further. Each day of the week consists of a certain theme/topic that is focused on for club members who finish their homework or do not have any assignments for the day.

SMARTGirls in Action

This is a 10-Week Program that prioritizes helping girls develop towards healthy attitudes and is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls spanning ages 8 to 18. Through dynamic sessions, participatory activities, field trips, and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

Teen Baking

This is a year-round program that prioritizes equipping club members with the tools to grow their confidence, abilities, and investment in the kitchen while helping them to investigate their personal connections to foods and baking. The curriculum for the baking program supports baking skill development through reflection, experimentation, and choice-based recipes.
